Description
Airservices En Route Chart - High Altitude (ERC High)
Effective Date: 09 July 2026
Airspace: FL200 and up
When you transition from departure to the cruise phase of flight, clear and structured en-route data is critical. Airservices Enroute Charts (ERC) are the definitive Australian standard for instrument flight rules (IFR) navigation and flight planning, providing essential airway, frequency, and airspace data across the continent.
Available in both Low Altitude and High Altitude formats, these charts ensure you have the exact level of detail required for your specific flight level.
Available Charts:
- H1/H2
- H3/H4
- H5
See map in product images for map coverage.
ERC High (High Altitude)
- Operational Level: Designed for high-altitude operations (typically FL200 and above).
- Best For: High-performance turboprops, business jets, and commercial airliners.
- Key Details: Focuses on the upper airspace architecture, high-level jet routes, RNAV waypoints, upper-level frequencies, and reduced vertical separation minimum (RVSM) airspace zones. Clutter-free design optimized for rapid jet speeds.
Key Features & Operational Value
- Comprehensive Airway Networks: Clearly marked air routes, track distances, and bearings for seamless navigation and flight plan filing.
- Vital Frequency Data: Quick-access information for Center, Flight Information Services (FIS), and CTAF/AFRU frequencies.
- Airspace & Restricted Zones: Clear visualization of Controlled Airspace (CTA) steps, Prohibited, Restricted, and Danger (PRD) areas.
- NAVAID Information: Complete details for VOR, NDB, and DME stations, including identifiers and frequencies.
Why Keep Physical ERC Charts?
While Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) are standard in modern cockpits, physical ERC charts remain a critical asset for serious pilots. They offer an unmatched tactical overview during pre-flight briefings, simplify cross-country routing discussions, and serve as an indispensable, zero-fail backup if your cockpit electronics overheat or lose power.
Regulatory Compliance: Airservices Australia updates ERC charts on a regular AIRAC cycle. Ensure your flight bag is compliant by carrying current editions for your specific flight paths.
