Inspiration

The Focke Wulf Fw200 Condor watch is inspired by the record breaking civilian version of the German passenger aircraft designed and built by Focke Wulf Aircraft. The Condor (a reference to its long wingspan and high service ceiling) was designed to fly across the Atlantic. In this role, it was a record breaker. In August 1938, Fw200 S-1 designated D-ACON flew non stop from Berlin to New York (a total of 6,371km) in 24 hours, 56 minutes and 12 seconds. At one time, the Condor was the most modern aircraft in service. Designed for speed and distance, she was also a tough airplane. She was an all metal, 4 engined aircraft that could carry a significant load of passengers and cargo, and in emergencies could remain in flight on 2 engines.
